Breast Cancer affects us all, directly and indirectly, despite the fact that its presence in men is often overlooked. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000, according to BreastCancer.org. In the US alone, 1 in 8 women is expected to develop some form of breast cancer in her lifetime - those are some crazy odds. According to the American Cancer Society, there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors currently living in the United States. They estimate that, in 2014, we will see diagnoses of about 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women and about 62,570 new cases of 'carcinoma in situ' (CIS) will be diagnosed. It is also expected that, in 2014 alone, about 40,000 women will die from breast cancer, with a mortality rate that is surpassed only by lung cancer.
